Taylor Nelson - Building Trades Union Concrete Finisher & Inventor

Taylor Nelson is a dedicated and skilled concrete finisher with nine years of experience in the building trades, having honed his craft as a union member. Throughout his career, Taylor developed a deep understanding of concrete work, particularly the challenges posed by mud and debris clogging the surfaces during finishing. This led him to create Brush Off, an innovative solution designed to prevent mud from obstructing tape measures and other tools commonly used in concrete finishing.

Beyond his work as a concrete finisher, Taylor is passionate about accessibility and inclusivity in construction. Drawing inspiration from his hands-on experience, he has advocated for improvements in concrete design, particularly for individuals with disabilities. His work has contributed to the advancement of the American Disabilities Act (ADA) in concrete design, with a focus on creating safer, smoother surfaces for blind pedestrians and wheelchair users. Taylor’s innovative mindset and commitment to accessibility continue to shape his approach to concrete work, making him a respected figure in both the building trades and the advocacy for inclusive design.
